What Is FTL (Full Truckload)?
- Full Truckload: (Dedicated and private fleet): Full truckloads dedicated to one brand or client. For a private fleet, the shipper owns the equipment and transports its goods to warehouses, stores and customers. Third-party logistics operate dedicated fleets to serve a single customer. The customer gets the benefits of a private fleet without management responsibility.
- Full Truckload (common carrier): The entire truck is dedicated to a single shipment. While FTL may transport loads between only two stops, a common carrier FTL can serve multiple clients with one full truckload. In these cases, clients are charged per mile or linear foot. This is ideal for high-volume loads or when large quantities of goods need consolidation.
